The 7th World Congress of Herpetology, due to be held at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada  (8-14 August 2012) is open for registration:

http://wch2012vancouver.com/

Jan Clemons (ARG UK) and Richard Griffiths (Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology) are planning a symposium on the role of volunteers. Jan has been involved with ARG UK since its re-branding in 2005 and prior to that under its former guise of the Herpetofauna Groups of Britain and Ireland.

Between now and the Congress, ARG volunteers will not only be undertaking their local projects, but they will also be contributing to the Million Ponds Project, Frogswab 2011 and, potentially, an adder genetics project.  More of the latter two at the Herp Workers' Meeting 2011.
