Derbyshire ARG - Great Crested Newt Survey Training Course

Location: Don Amott Memorial Hall, Peacroft Lane, Hilton, Derbyshire, England

Course details: The course starts with a classroom session on great crested newt identification, ecology, survey methods, biosecurity legal status and licensing. This is followed by an afternoon field session at a nearby great crested newt site to undertake survey techniques including netting, egg search and water sampling for GCN eDNA determination, followed by setting bottle traps. A Saturday evening torchlight survey will be held on site followed by a final session on Sunday morning to examine the bottle trap catch.

Times: Saturday 13th May 10am to 5pm and 9.15 to 23.15pm.  Sunday 14th May 8.45am to 11.00am.

Costs:Course fees are £5.00 for Derbyshire ARG members, £25.00 for other attendees. (payment on the day)
