Herpetofauna Workers Meeting 2020
We are delighted to announce that we will be joining with Amphibian and Reptile Conservation to run the 2020 annual Herpetofauna Workers Meeting #HWM2020. The event will be held on 15-16 February at The Waterfront, Southport on the Sefton Coast in North Merseyside. Running annually for over 30 years, this popular two-day event occupies the centre stage of the herpetological calendar. Once again, we have a fantastic line up of speakers and workshops who will be addressing a range of topics including survey and monitoring, habitat management, outreach and policy issues covering a broad spread of widespread and rare amphibian and reptile species. The meeting attracts a diverse audience representing: conservation organisations, ecological consultants, statutory bodies, land managers, academic institutions and students, and enthusiastic volunteers, and is a great place to catch up with our lively community and meet new friends and colleagues
We will also be taking advantage of this wonderful location to find out more about the Gems in the Dunes project conserving threatened species including the rare Merseyside sand lizard and natterjack toads, and including a special habitat task/guided walk on the Friday before the meeting.
Big thank you to the Heritage Lottery Fund and Back from the Brink for supporting us this year, helping to make the conference more affordable for our volunteers.
