Great crested newts, licensing and mitigation training

Great crested newts, licensing and mitigation training

Course level: advanced.

This course has been designed for ecologists who are ready to take responsibility for great crested newt licensing and mitigation projects. It will also be useful for local authority
ecologists and planners who need to comment on great crested newt issues.

Preston Montford Field Centre Montford Bridge, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY4 1DX

Tuesday November 29th– Thursday December 1st 2011.

Training will cover:

  • An introduction to licence applications

  • Project planning Case studies demonstrating good and bad practice

  • Running a mitigation project 

  • Completion of the Natural England Template for Method Statement to support application for licence in respect of great crested newts (Form WML-A14-2)

  • Workshop using a local scenario Project management and completion

This course will be led by Jim Fairclough, Senior Ecologist with Golder Associates, assisted by David Orchard, Ponds Project Officer with Amphibian and Reptile Conservation.
Course fees: £325 (or £305 shared room occupancy)
Included in the fee is 2 nights full board including a cooked breakfast, picnic lunch, home made cakes and evening meal. Vegetarian and other dietary options are available.
