a visit to Bissoe reserve for Saturday 14th April 2012 from 10:00am to 12 noon with the volunteer reserve warden, Duncan Viner. He'll give us some information about the reserve and then take us around some of the ponds. The reserve is a former mine site and has newly planted woodland, ponds and regenerating heathland. Hopefully we might get to see some amphibians and reptiles and record any species we do see.
The reserve has uneven ground and some steep, slippery banks around the ponds and we will go through a marshy area so waterproof boots or wellingtons are recommended.
Directions:
From the A39 at Devoran, 3.5 miles (6 km) south of Truro, take the turning for Bissoe. Go straight on at the cross roads. Just after Bissoe, the road bends to the left. A cycle hire centre is on your right and the reserve access is via a track to the left. Duncan has suggested that we meet in the bike hire car park, but there is a charge for parking here. If he is unable to get it waived then we may want to meet at Devoran and car share to the bike hire centre. I'll let you know nearer the time what the parking arrangements are.
