A two day course covering the theory & practical work involved in surveying for reptiles in the UK. The course will cover all the reptile species found in the UK (widespread & rare). The course will demonstrate habitat assessment and survey methods, the safe handling of live animals, mark release and recapture analysis, population estimates, relative abundance, distribution, mapping and reporting. New survey standards from the reptile mitigation guidelines will be worked through with case studies and examples
The course will focus on the Knowledge, Skills and Experience required to become competent reptile surveyors which are outlined in the recently published Competencies for species survey: reptiles by IEEM in association with Amphibian & Reptile Conservation
